Record in gold medals was found by students of Chelyabinsk Traditional karate School in JKA Karate European Championship 2-3.06.2012 in Paris. Astrakhantsev Igor, Zbrizky Rostislav and Hamatdinov Artem won 6 gold and 1 bronze medal, showing the best result in the entire Russian team. Competitions were held in two days on the Pierre de Coubertin Stadium in Paris and gathered top athletes from 23 countries in each competitive category were competing for first place over 50 athletes.
According to Champions coach Valery Balashov level of competitions has increased significantly this year, but in spite of the competition our boys won a landslide victory.
Astrakhantsev Igor personally spent 5 kumite matches, winning athletes from Ukraine, Scotland, France, the Czech Republic in a semifinal meeting with the Russian athlete, but lost to him for the finals and won 3rd place. This was the last defeat, followed by a series of victories. In the individual kata, Igor did not leave a chance of athletes from Germany, Norway, Czech Republic, Holland, Scotland, and took a 1st place.
In the team kumite Astrakhantsev participated in four meetings, all the fights ending early devastating attacks, became European champion in the team.
In the senior category of 16-18 years in kata performed Hamatdinov Artem and Zbrizky Rostislav. Artem lost in the qualifying round of Europe vice-champion from England, and Rostislav confirmed his title of European Champion 2011, again became the first.
But the most striking moment, not leave indifferent judges, no other team was a victory in the team kata of our athletes. Their coordinated and dynamic performance has left far behind their concurrent, the team of Belgium and Germany, who took the prizes, and the gap in the score was 0,7. This deserved success is the result of the competent training of athletes and coaches of traditional karate schools, which celebrated 20th anniversary in 2012.
